Justin, the face of Jordan Dog Training, is known and recognised throughout Australia by his industry peers as a passionate advocate for all things dogs, especially their health, well-being, and training. He is the Owner & Founder of Jordan Dog Training, a highly esteemed Master Dog Trainer with over 35 years of experience in the pet industry. His passion and dedication for dog training began at a young age when he started his amazing journey as a child. Justin’s introduction to dog training came from taking his family dogs to obedience training, where he and his dogs excelled as naturals, forming a strong bond and love for working together.
His patience, dedicated and skilful approach to dog training didn’t go unnoticed. Justin’s exceptional talents led him to be invited by several dog training organisations to work as an instructor, where he helped others discover the joy of working with dogs and develop their individual skills.
What truly sets Justin apart is his unique journey of mentorship under the late John Richardson, renowned as the Dog Whisperer. Justin had the privilege of being invited by John to study and train alongside him, which ultimately led to him being honoured with the esteemed title of Master Dog Trainer. This accomplishment is the result of years spent working closely with John, both in Brisbane and Sydney. Justin not only developed his skills during this time but also forged a deep connection with his mentor, a bond that greatly influenced his career.
As a testament to his expertise, Justin was the official trainer and handler for the Queensland Reds Rugby Union Team‘ junior mascot, “Red.” He was responsible for every aspect of Red’s well-being and career, including selecting the right puppy with the ideal temperament and overseeing its training. Justin’s presence could be seen at all St. George Queensland Reds home games and media events, where he handled Red with dedication and care.
Justin is a dedicated member of the Pet Industry Association Australia and actively participates in the Dog Training Consultative Group, contributing to the development of a “Model Code of Practice” to establish industry best practices in dog training across Australia. He also served as a voice for members, addressing concerns related to training techniques and methods.
In addition to his professional commitments, Justin collaborated with the Brisbane City Council, engaging in Animal Management Forums to enhance the council’s approach to responsible animal ownership. His involvement extended to volunteering at K-9 capers events organised by the council throughout Brisbane.
Justin’s expertise encompasses both Puppy Schools, Obedience Training, Dog Agility, Dog Sports, Wildlife Aversion Training and Behavioural Problem-solving. Over the years, he has instructed at various dog obedience organisations, including the Metropolitan Dog Obedience Club and Teamwork Dog Obedience. He estimated that he directly assisted over 20,000 Australian families in addressing their dogs’ needs and challenges.
Another significant aspect of Justin’s contribution to the dog training community is his creation of a comprehensive library of blogs and information sheets, all available for free download. This wealth of information, regularly updated with new content weekly, caters not only to dog lovers but also to veterinarians and industry professionals. He recognised the need for professional dog trainers who could help people understand and resolve their dogs’ behavioural issues using gentle methods and proven techniques. He remained dedicated to expanding his team with individuals who shared his commitment to improving the lives of both dogs and their owners.
In addition to his extensive work, Justin was instrumental in developing a relationship with QRIC (Queensland Racing Integrity Commission). He collaborated with them to assist retired greyhounds in their behaviour management program, ensuring these amazing and majestic dogs transitioned smoothly into their new forever homes. Justin could often be seen working with these beautiful dogs, wearing a smile on his face, and it seemed as though the greyhounds reciprocated with smiles of their own.
Furthermore, Justin has a regular segment on 4BC Radio titled “Ask the Professionals.” In this program, he is in the studio, taking calls from pet owners across Australia, and helping them with any questions or problems they may have with their pets. His knowledge, passion, and experience shine through, benefiting tens of thousands of Australian dog owners. Justin’s expertise has also been featured in articles in the Sunday Mail, Courier Mail, and segments on National Television shows like “Pets Behaving Badly” and “A Current Affair,” where he shares his wealth of knowledge and dedication to the well-being of dogs with a wide audience.
