Dog Obedience and Behaviour Training

Will obedience classes help my barking or problem dog?

Obedience classes will help with obedience issues, and we do offer those (see group obedience classes).

For more in depth behaviour issues, i.e. barking, jumping up, destructive behaviour, separation anxiety, aggression – which are behaviour issues rather than obedience issues – a private consultation would be far more beneficial in resolving the issues. Click here for details of in-home dog training.

What if my dog doesn’t respond?

With our experience, techniques and guidance, with a little work, time and patience, we know your dog will respond.

What happens once you leave?

Our training program provides you with guidance to continue developing your dog’s newfound manners. We offer lifetime support for you and your best friend if further guidance is needed.

Is my dog too old?

No. We work with dogs of all ages and have effective results regardless of the age.

Do you have experience with my breed?

Yes. With over 30 years of training and working with dogs, it is likely that we have worked with your specific breed on many occasions.

Does the whole family have to be present for the training?

This is preferable but not essential, as we are looking for consistency from the whole family to get the desired results from your best friend.

When are you available?

We are very flexible and will work with you to find a mutually agreeable time.

Do I have to be home when you come?

Yes. This is just as much about training the dog as it is about training the guardian.

Will one consultation be enough?

In most cases, yes, one session is enough.

For more extreme cases, a follow up session may be appropriate two to three weeks after the initial consultation.

What happens if I need to cancel or postpone my appointment?

24 hours notice is required for any postponement or cancellation of a booking to avoid a 50% cancellation fee.

Upon rebooking, this fee will be deductible off the final invoice.

Will my dog be able to focus for the whole session?

The training is just as much about training the trainer as it is about the dog.

If we can get the trainer to send the right signals, the dog will respond instinctively.

Is there follow up support?

Yes. We leave our direct contact numbers and are available to you 7 days a week for ongoing support.

Can I send my dog away for training?

Yes, you could, but we believe in training the trainer and the dog in its home environment rather than just the dog in a strange environment.

In the dog’s home environment, we can see the dog’s true colours and behaviour, and personalise the training to both the dog’s and the family’s specific needs.

Can I use a check chain?

We prefer more modern, gentle techniques, which is more effective and beneficial to your relationship with the dog.

Do you use treats for training?

We believe in any form of positive reward that helps to motivate your dog. This includes praise, toys, clicker or treats, depending on the situation and the dog.

Puppy Pre-School

What do I need to bring to puppy pre-school?

Puppy, Collar, Lead, Vaccination Certificate, Yummy treats.

What age does my puppy need to be for puppy pre-school?

From 8 weeks of age up to 18 weeks of age.

Can I bring my partner/children to puppy pre-school?

Yes. The whole family is welcome to attend, and it is important for them to attend to learn how to interact with their puppy as well.

I have two puppies. Can I bring them both to puppy pre-school?

Yes. Preferably one handler per puppy unless previously arranged.

I have already done puppy school with my older dog. Do I need to do it again with my new puppy?

Socialisation is the key factor for puppy pre-school, not just training the trainer, in this precious imprinting stage.

Where do you hold puppy pre-schools?

We have puppy schools all over Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast. Click here for puppy school locations.

How do I know the other puppies are safe?

We request and view vaccination certificates of all puppies starting puppy classes.

What if my puppy is not fully vaccinated yet?

All of our puppy schools are held in a controlled and safe environment, only in vet clinics, so as not to endanger the wellbeing of your dog.
