A harness will not teach loose lead walking by itself. However, it can make training easier. Reward your dog when they walk calmly and the lead remains relaxed.

Choosing the Correct Size

Measure your dog around the deepest part of the chest. Take the measurement directly behind the front legs.

The measuring tape should be firm but not tight. Use this measurement to select a size. Do not choose a size based only on your dog’s breed or weight.

After fitting the harness, check that:

• Your dog can move freely
• The straps do not rub behind the legs
• The harness cannot slip over the head
• You can fit two fingers beneath the straps

Check the fit again after your dog has walked in the harness.

How to Use the Harness

Attach a standard lead to the front point for everyday walking.

For additional guidance, attach a double ended lead to the front and back points. Keep both sections of the lead relaxed.

If your dog pulls, stop or calmly change direction. Reward your dog when they return to you or relax the lead.
