Obedience Classes

Group obedience training is an excellent way to learn the techniques for training your dog how to behave in the big wide world and allows you to practice those skills in an environment that has a modest level of distractions. It is essential to practice these skills if we want our dogs to hold it together when they encounter other dogs, people, prams, bicycles, etcetera out in the real world.

Our obedience classes help to address dog obedience issues and also help you to teach long lasting techniques for obedience now and in the future. We highly recommend group dog obedience training for any dogs needing some better manners and basic obedience.

These classes are on-leash and it is not a play date for dogs; however, the ability for your dog to focus on you while in close proximity with other dogs is an important aspect of  socialisation – learning that they do not get to play with every dog they see, and to build value for their interactions with their guardian (that’s you!)

The course runs for 1 hour a week for 3 weeks and includes Obedience for Life membership for your dog. Please refer to our Group Obedience website and our terms and conditions for important information prior to booking.

Once you have completed your online order, you will receive a confirmation email and your trainer will send you a text message the day before the course starts as a reminder also providing you with further information.

What is Obedience for Life?

When you enrol your dog into one of our Group Obedience courses, this includes our Obedience for Life program.

After the initial three-week course, your dog is welcome to return to unlimited additional classes at no additional cost – for the life of the dog at any of our many training locations. That means your dog can keep coming back:

  • until they are performing at the level that you want;
  • when they reach adolescence;
  • any time for refresher training or to troubleshoot any obedience issues that arise.

Why do we offer this? Because obedience isn’t just sit, drop, stay, although it may feel like it sometimes. Obedience training is what helps you develop your relationship and allows you to do more with your dog every day.

Do you want:

  • walks that are pleasant
  • to go to dog-friendly cafes and beaches
  • non-blurry photographs
  • less “NO!” and more “Yes!”
  • more safety in emergencies

Training is an ongoing process, and your dog is ALWAYS learning. Our Group Obedience course will teach you how to ensure your dog is learning the RIGHT things that will help to make every day with your dog a pleasure, not a chore.

Can my dog attend?

Jordan Dog Training offers dog obedience classes for dogs from 5 months of age, with no upper age limit.

Some dogs may not be suitable for our group obedience training sessions or the group obedience classes may not be the best option for all dogs and all issues. If your dog has behavioural issues, a private behavioural consultation may be more beneficial. Please discuss this with Jordan Dog Training prior to commencement of the course if you think this may be the case.

Cancellations or changes to bookings

Cancellations within 48 hours before course commencement are non-refundable. Our courses have limited spaces and are in high demand, so this is necessary to reduce the burden of late cancellations.

Please phone your trainer as soon as possible if you need to change your booking.
